Can enclosures be fitted with terminals, DIN rails and cable glands?
Many enclosure ranges are designed with pre-punched or pre-drilled fixing points specifically to accommodate terminals, DIN rails, and cable glands, without compromising the enclosure’s ingress protection rating.
For standard applications, a product-finder tool can help identify an off-the-shelf enclosure that already suits the intended fittings. For more specific or complex requirements, CNC machining services allow any enclosure in the range to be modified to fit particular terminals, rails, or glands, with engineering support available for genuinely bespoke setups. Are enclosures suitable for switchboard arrangements?
Switchboard housing needs to satisfy two functions at once: protecting the equipment inside, and protecting users from direct or indirect electric shock.
The right protection level depends on the switchboard type and its location. Socket housing units, for instance, might carry an IP44 rating (protection against solids larger than 1mm and water splashes), while empty housings can reach IP65 (protection against dust ingress and water jets). Insulated distribution boxes offering Class II protection ensure no contact exists between conductive parts and any protective conductor, and a strong IK rating (IK08 is typical) supports use in demanding commercial or industrial settings.
Modular options for interconnectivity and segregated architecture also make it easier to scale a switchboard installation over time while keeping equipment properly protected.
