Yes. Plastic enclosures can be coloured as they are produced, during the injection moulding process, by mixing coloured pellets into the polymer melt. Our in-house manufacturing facilities in Schalksmühle, Germany, support custom-coloured plastic enclosures for high-volume purchases. We hold a large variety of pigment-based pellets and offer colours from the RAL, HKS and Pantone systems, whether the colour is needed for brand integrity or for safety, and we ensure colour consistency across the entire batch. We can also add multicoloured logos or graphics using digital, pad and screen printing, laser marking and hot embossing.

Yes. We offer a customisation service with digital and pad printing options to suit a wide range of applications. Thanks to our in-house printing capability, we can print images, logos and text in a wide variety of colours onto any of our enclosures, regardless of the material they are made from. Branding an enclosure this way supports brand identity, awareness and recall.

Our in-house enclosure assembly and customisation service is designed to shorten lead times for OEM and electrical installer customers. We fit DIN rails, terminals, cable glands and keypads, right through to fitting and wiring a controller, which means enclosures arrive as plug and play solutions. We take on single enclosures up to batch orders, including specialised enclosures for applications such as rail, and we can help with planning.

Electrical enclosures are available with transparent lids. We supply a range of enclosures and distribution boards with clear covers as well as opaque ones, so operators can see components, displays and labels at a glance without opening the lid, which helps prevent dust and water ingress. Our transparent-cover products come in a variety of ingress protection (IP) ratings and materials, and we can supply fully customised enclosures where a standard type does not fit.

We offer custom printing, including company logos, technical labels and safety instructions, applied directly to the lids of our enclosures. We use high-quality flatbed inkjet printers that print in full colour at up to 1,800 dots per inch, giving excellent durability and precision even on fine details and complex designs. The print stands up to outdoor exposure to UV rays, moisture and temperature changes without fading or peeling. We also offer custom assembly, supplying enclosures pre-fitted with specific components or modifications.

To reduce the size of a limited number of knockouts so they fit your cable glands, the most reliable and cost-efficient solution is a reducer, which maintains a suitable IP rating and keeps the enclosure's functionality intact. We supply polyamide reducers as accessories for M16, M20, M25 and M32 metric threads. Reducers are not an option if the knockouts need to be enlarged, or if you need to modify the entries on a large number of enclosures. In those cases a bespoke design is a better alternative, and our in-house CNC capabilities allow us to design and manufacture enclosures with the right entry options in volume.

Yes. We can deliver prototype enclosures overnight to engineers and project managers across the UK. One of the CNC machining centres at our Telford facility is dedicated to sample production and gives that work priority, and we back it with in-house 3D printing and labelling to produce close-to-production, functional prototypes. Our specialised teams can also help with the design and specification before manufacture begins.

Enclosures with transparent lids are just as durable as opaque ones, so you do not have to choose between visibility and protection. Our clear lids are made from polycarbonate, the same tough, impact-resistant material as our standard opaque versions, so they cope with outdoor environments, dust, water and mechanical stress. They give an unobstructed view of internal equipment while offering the same high level of protection, which makes them suited to monitoring displays, indicator lights and other internal components without opening the enclosure.

Standard Spelsberg enclosures are supplied in a single colour, as most specifications prioritise size, strength and ingress protection over appearance. Custom colour options, including black, can be produced to order for installations where an enclosure will be visible and aesthetics matter.

Spelsberg offers full customisation of its standard enclosure range — entry ports, lid style, engraving and features such as keypads — supported by in-house CNC manufacturing. Its Telford facility, with four CNC machines, can deliver custom samples within 24 hours to UK customers, alongside assembly, wiring and testing.

Irregular-shaped PCB cut-outs, such as for a D-SUB connector, are typically created using a D-SUB punch tool or, where a punch isn't suitable, CNC machining. Spelsberg doesn't offer this cutting service in-house but works with third-party specialists, then installs the finished PCB into an enclosure via its assembly service.
